The pleasant temperatures of Malaga in winter make the carnival one of the warmest in Spain. This 2023, from February 11 to 19, the Malaga carnival will take place.
Did you know that the first vestiges of this festival were at the beginning of the 16th century? It started as a religious but relaxed party. Until at the end of the 19th century, the carnivals in Malaga began to look a little more like the current ones.
In recent years, the Malaga carnival has become a popular celebration, which takes place throughout the historic center as well as in different neighborhoods of the city.
The Malaga carnival is synonymous with joy, music and colours.
Carried out by the Fundación Ciudadana del Carnaval, you can enjoy meetings of singing groups, murgas, comparsas, quartets and choirs, which compete in different groups throughout the province of Malaga.
The air that is breathed through the streets of the center is fun and pure joy, always accompanied by the excellent local gastronomy and the good winter weather.
A week of pure partying, which on its last day moves to the Malagueta beach, for the famous “burial of the boquerón”.
The Carnival of Malaga will begin at 8:00 p.m. in Plaza de la Constitución on February 11; with the proclamation by Paqui Prieto, a murguista since she was a child and by inheritance.
