Today, June 21, it will be decided whether Malaga will finally be the ideal candidate to host this great international event.

Among the candidates are 5 countries:

  • Thailand (Phuket)
  • Serbia (Belgrade)
  • Spain (Malaga)
  • Argentina (San Carlos de Bariloche)

What is the 2027 International Exhibition about? Today this project focuses on making the growth of the city and urban development compatible with the protection of the environment as its main objective. (Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible).

The proposition of this coastal city has been named as “La Era Urbana: hacia la ciudad sostenible”.

The duration of the event can range from a maximum of 3 months. In addition, the location of the exhibition would take place in the Buenavista area (location of Campanillas in the capital). This location takes place near the University of Malaga (UMA), the Technological Park of Andalusia and the Palace of Fairs and Congresses (close to public transportation to facilitate access to the event).

What economic impact would it have on the city of Malaga? The number of visitors to the event oscillates between about 11 million visits, thus generating approximately 31,000 jobs.

So this Exhibition could help the economic growth of the city remarkably as well as promote awareness among people about the importance of a good balance between the economic boom and care for the environment.
